Iranian dad, Bolivian mom, and a census form that never knew what to do with me.

Martin draws his comedy from a diverse heritage. An Iranian father, a Bolivian mother, and a childhood in Silver Spring where the material wrote itself. The specifics are his; the dinner table is everybody's, which is why the jokes travel.

His path to the stage started behind a camera. In his early twenties, Martin moved to LA and lived with his cousin, comedian Max Amini, filming and promoting shows on Max's tour. Watching the road from the wings turned out to be its own education, and it's what pushed him from the crew side of comedy to the stage.

He works marriage into the act too, with commentary on relationships that audiences recognize a little too well. And he occasionally plays matchmaker mid-show, pairing off audience members between punchlines, the habit that got him called the cupid of stand-up.

In 2021 he founded Room 808, the comedian-run club on Upshur Street in Petworth, running five nights a week with local names and comics off Netflix, Comedy Central and HBO. The Washington Post named it one of the city's best.

His debut special, I'm Transcending, was filmed at the Lincoln Theatre and directed by Erik Griffin. He's currently out on a three-continent tour.
